No-one gives straight news anymore. every freaking "host" has to spin it, and it is tedious to listen to.

still everyone seems to rave over Stewart - so I should keep an open mind and check it out.

He's back on Jan7th? ok i'll watch it. thanks
It's not a news show though, it's a comedy show. They take real-life events and incorporate it into their comedic routine. The news is often dumbed down but their comedy smartens it up - they take the obvious, something that should be common sense and make it even clearer for those who still can't seem to understand (e.g. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11)

So what? That's the way it should be. Yes, people are out of work. It's a strike. A victory for the writers would benefit all laborers in Hollywood. A loss is going to Wal-Martize just one more career. And, it looks like that's now inevitable.

Sure, we get Jon Stewart back. And, of course he could do the show without the writers, but the writers help in many ways.

But the big picture is cost for the industry. With reality tv now selling, they have their dream come true. Practically ZERO labor cost. If Comedy Central can come up with an idea for a reality show that would bring in Stewart ratings, bye bye, Daily Show. And, don't think they can't do it. Don't think they're already not looking into it. It's a business, and they have an entire floor working on ideas to get labor costs down to practically zero, if not the whole fucking building this day and age.

If you're pro union, you have to be a complete dumbass to be happy just because Stewart is back on the air, because this will be a loss for labor. We are in pivotal times right now, and it seems that even people on the so called "left" are taking the wrong approach to it. It's a fucking t.v. show, man.

And, just so you know, I'm not in the guild. I've only attended a few film classes. I'm in Sacramento, working all day and writing whenever. I'm arguing for labor.

Tuesday's a good night. I, too, like House and Bones.

Also like NCIS and Boston Legal

Some 'new' shows are coming soon. Monk is one.

But I'm sure all the new stuff won't last too long.

STRIKE ZONE: LATEST NEWS AND UPDATES
UPDATED 5:20 p.m. PT Dec. 20, 2007

NEW YORK -- Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are the latest late-night hosts to announce that they are returning to the air.

Comedy Central's "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" and "The Colbert Report" will begin production Jan. 7 without the shows' writing staffs. The network will "continue to hold out hope for a swift resolution to the current stalemate that will enable the shows to be complete again," it said a statement.

I swear to Christ I do not know how anyone can be happy that these men are returning to work...crossing the Labor line...without the writers.

Oh, yippee! My favorite show! Shall we pop popcorn or shall we make malts? It's so fun. I'm so excited. It is, after all, all about me.

These writers have been out of work for MONTHS now, including over Christmas.

I have said it before, I will say it again, and I will keep saying it until it registers...perhaps with an erstwhile air traffic controller...or John Edwards gets elected or I emigrate: AMERICAN LABOR WILL GAIN COLLECTIVELY, OR IT WILL GO DOWN ONE BY ONE.

I am inexpressibly disappointed in Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert.

i agree with you 100%.

WRITING is one of the MOST advanced human efforts and

humans consume LOADS of stories like heroin.

LABOR MUST WIN THIS ONE!!!

Speaking of cold, guess what I just heard on Iowa television news?

"FOX is uniquely positioned to weather the Writers Strike."

Rupert Murdoch is married to a Chinese national...that always strikes me as significant.
