Screw the writers

All Jon has to do is read the news and raise an eyebrow, I say he needs to put this shit behind him and get back on the air.

they probably won't be out long after leno and letterman come back. problem is, i think jon and stephen are actually in the writer's guild, so i don't know how that'll work.

Leno might not be back so soon, but Letterman will be back on air as he was able to negotiate with the guild as he owns the show, and is a member of the WGA.

Jon's not going to cross the picket line. Which is sad, because there's no one else bustin' the media for their fuck ups and slights.

they could just concentrate on the interview and when they cut to a "location shot", the correspondent could just say, "jon, i can't talk because i have no writers."

"well, okayyyy...thanks sam."

that could be the first night. after that, they're on their own.

Maybe not crossing a picket line is just as important to him?

Plus, if he's a member of the writer's guild, I'm not so sure he could cross it even if he wanted to..

I understand why he won't cross. That's what I was saying in the last post. I'm just sayin' it sucks that so much shit slides when Stewart's not there to catch it.

But if he crossed he'd burn too many bridges.

Stewart and Colbert are on strike! They're members of the union striking.

Breaking: "Daily Show" and "Colbert Report" To Return In Second Week Of January

| December 20, 2007 06:18 PM

First reported by NoFactZone: "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" and "The Colbert Report" will be back on the air January 7th. Here's the confirm from Comedy Central, hot off the presses:
"'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart' and 'The Colbert Report' will resume production on January 7 with both shows returning to air that night without their respective writing staffs. The January 7 return follows a scheduled two-week, end-of-year hiatus that was previously built into the shows' production calendars. We continue to hold out hope for a swift resolution to the current stalemate that will enable the shows to be complete again." -- Comedy Central
"We would like to return to work with our writers. If we cannot, we would like to express our ambivalence, but without our writers we are unable to express something as nuanced as ambivalence."
-- Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert
