Really freaked me out the first time to think I was walking and talking after the endoscopy and didn't recall a bit of it. My sister drove me home and had to stay with me for 24 hrs., and at some point I was sitting in the living room and said, "Wow! How did I get here!" She said I talked all the way home in the car (you know me, I would be chattering, even when I'm drugged out of my skull), and even after we got home and seemed perfectly normal, but I couldn't remember a bit of it. Since I didn't tell any national security secrets though or act out of character, I decided it didn't matter whether I remembered.

Yep...all in all it's a recreational day! I've had a half-dozen endoscopies over the years. It isn't a big deal.

Eric, hope the meds work for ya!

Eric, have they done a stomach emptying test? I have gastroparisis. Do you have trouble feeling full even though you haven't eaten very much? Do you feel like you could throw up?

Eric, they did that to me with medications and it got worse. If it hasn't been on the market for 20-30 years don't take it with a long term study behind it. Have them do the stomach emptying test just to rule that out. Don't let them suck the system while you get worse. Please. Also, Reglan is not a good medication so don't let them give it to you. There was a lawsuit againsit it because it causes brain damage if taken too long. And if you are like me with endocrine problems that damage could happen a lot faster. Look into all medications and interactions with other medications including over the counter. We are nothing more than experiments.

less is more. if the meds you take work within 2-3 weeks (be honest with yourself on that) you don't need the invasive procedure. if sympoms worsen or the meds have no effect, get the endoscopy. seeing the problem is far superior to bloodwork. it could mean your life. do not ignore it.

They ran a full blood workup and did an ultrasound, all my results came back with no problems, other than my cholesterol is a little high but nothing to really worry about my dr said.

I was pretty convinced that I had gallstones because these seem like classic symptoms but I am also a thin male, which my dr said doesn't really fit that bill.

So he's perscribed me some perscription based and acid, he thinks it could either be acid reflux or a small ulcer. Anyway just thought I would share the good news that nothing is really wrong, when they did the ultrasound I saw a bunch of big ass black spots and was sure they were cancer or something!
The black spots could be scaring from the acid or you could be bleeding. If it's an ulcer, I've heard that ulcers are caused by bacteria, and are therefore treatable with antibiotics. It sounds like it could be hypertension.

Interesting.

A few years ago, I had an ultrasound on my breast. The black spots were good news...it was the white spots we didn't want to see. Don't know if this transfers to the stomach, however.

I'm no doctor, but I believe black spots = blood vessels. It's the iron.

Oh. Well, I'm not one either....it's all such a mystery. Where's that doc we had on BM's site? Or Conrad?
