Onions, Garlic, & Related Root Vegetables

Onions contain a substance (N-propyl disulphide) which destroys red blood cells in the cat, causing a form of anemia called Heinz body anemia. Garlic contains a similar substance in a lesser amount.

he'll be fine. they have 9 lives i've heard.

the article was more for people who make their own cat
food and stuff, telling them not to feed it to them every meal.

There are plenty of organic foods - both dry and canned around.
Good stuff, and balanced for cats.

I had no idea. Most spices are harmfull to all animals especially sodium. And with older cats stay away from dry cat food. It can cause urinary infections, blockages and also the very same ingredient they use to put animals dow is in some dry animal food and it makes it harder to put them down because over time they build up a resistance to it.

I doubt the occasional onion can hurt all that much, but why risk it.

I've been feeding Houdini the occasional onion tidbit/leftovers (grilled in Olive Oil) for 15 years he's as fit as a fiddle. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Well my baby is actually 20 years old now (daughter) and he's nearly as old 18.

You mean this cat that's on my gut right now:

The cat who eats anything?

Houdini Series.

No.4 from the series:

He was a free cat from a friend's litter on a farm. Oh so many years ago now.
