Well good luck. I´ll try again on January 1st. I hope to break last years 3 day record, yeehaw!. I only wish (if I make it) not to be such an asshole as many quitters, boy those who have smoked and quit are usually really irritating.

yeah. some of them are like the tea totalers. if they had to stop drinking, everybody else did too. i never smoke around others who don't except in the open air or in restaurants after eating, even if it's allowed.

That's because we don't want to go through all that hell of quitting just to still have to breathe in someone else's smoke, nor do we want to have our hair and clothing smell. Once you quit smoking, that's when you finally get to find out what a waste cologne is on a person who smokes. Finally, you get to smell what others have been smelling when your senses were dulled

By the way, I'm not a fanatic about those who smoke around me like I was at first..I understand what you're going through. There was this young guy of 19, the cook at a restaurant and I was the waitress. I was 27yrs. old. I smoked and he didn't. Every time a guy would come into the restaurant to flirt with me, this young guy would tease me and say "remember, nobody wants to kiss an ashtray" I still smoked until I was 34. And I've been kissed many times before then and since

I used to enjoy being an asshole to people who got mad at me for smoking. And yes, I swore I would never be one of THOSE assholes.

But...guess what?---baby, I am your worst nightmare. I am a non-smoking asshole's asshole. I do not like it around me at all. It is almost as if your whole body gangs up on you to say, "oh no you don't." I'm also making up for the poor peeps I behaved like an ass to--gotta say sorry somehow.

My husband quit a 2 to 1 1/2 day habit two years before I did. He never nagged me one time. I did quit smoking in the bedroom and in the car for him. We were in Jersey. Smoking was expensive. Between the two of us we smoked 5-6 packs a day. Once we both quit, the money we saved was huge.

About your car---if you can---or when you can---go for it. Two months after I quit smoking....We bought a new non-smoking car. Brand spanking new...never smoked in. We still have it. There is a still a crispy newness to that car that our smoked in cars never kept. It's been a really great car. Quitting smoking paid for it.

I could not even imagine making out a new budget and putting cigarettes back in there. I can't think of much of anything more ludicrous. I know full well if I started smoking again, I'd be back to over 3 packs a day in no time....How much are cigarettes now? Even at $3/pack, it's $10.50 a day just for me, $73.50 a week -- $294.00 a month..... Then there's the fact that I was a big enough an asshole to give that kind of money to a corporation that knew they were killing me but so long as I died quietly it would be okay? Smoking sucks.

I used to really keep track of the price of cigarettes. It is like getting a raise for a part time job you never have to show up to.

Right on Diane.

My shame is that in the 70's, I'd send my kids out to borrow cigarettes for me when they came home from school because I'd ran out of smokes. I couldn't even deal with my poor kids until I'd had a cigarette. Disgusting! All three of my kids grew up to smoke, but all three have quit and no longer smoke
And yes, they forgive me
