Today Is My Smoking Quit Day

I just put on the nicotine patch, and got cinnomom sticks. I would really appreciate if anyone could bump this thread and encourage me when I'm on here. It's very hard. But I have to stick to it this time. The patch feels like fire on my arm, but beeter fire on the arm than cancer in the lungs. Thanks all.

Good for you GM!! You can do this. Just think of all the other things you do for your health, and add this on. I think the first week will be the worst, so don't think of the entire week, just take it one day at a time....say to yourself "Today is am strong. Today I am healthy. Today I will only do what is good and wholesome for my body. Today I will succeed in whatever I put my mind to...just for today."

You may fail at first, you may succeed, but I'm with you girl..oh by the way, can you take chantix? If the patch doesn't work for you? My skeptical niece tried Chantix for two weeks and hasn't picked up a cigarette since and it's been at least a year now. The one she did pick up gagged her!
I went cold turkey in 1984 and dreamed of smoking cigarettes for over two more years. They didn't have all the great stuff on the market then like now.

Thank you all. I have to keep on myself. Starting the fidget thing, but I can't let myself pick another one up. It's just time to breath, even though where I live it's all car exhaust! I'm going to disapline myself as hard as I can. Here's my first getting on myself. Stop fidgeting!

My uncle to this day still puts a tooth pick in his mouth for hours on end, and he quit smoking 30+ years ago.

Try something like that. A straw, a pencil, anything.

Disfigured is right...plus if you suck on peppermint or cinnamon candies, then inhale through a straw, it's just like smoking. Chew and swallow the candy first!
