The thing about Marijuana is that some people, like your father I note, use it to self-medicate and avoid the doctor/pharmacist scam. From experience I know that a joint would help with anxiety, it allowed me to back off of a problem and think outside the box.

It is upsetting that the Federal Government is usurping the States authority. Like you have identified with your situation.

You might solicit the Tobacco industry to lobby for this cause. This would be in their interests in providing an alternate commodity, use for their farms as tobacco gets an increasingly bad name. Tobacco also has the political machinery to make a dent in Washington DC.

I am sure that the tobacco lobby has been considered, in fact I thought that they actually had some crops ready for harvesting at one time in expectation of it being legalized. It might be time to readdress.......
That the feds are impeding State's and citizen's legal choice is nothing new. Threatening the Dr.s and their ability to write prescriptions across the board is strong arm tactics so familiar when dealing with Fed power. Indeed, the tobacco companies would vastly benefit, as would the in-country textile industry. Tobacco probably won't lobby tho, they probably feel they can't take the media beating they would get. I've never heard they had some plants 'on-hand' as there isn't anyway to get the stamp to make it legal to grow the plant, which you need in-hand in order to get the stamp (nice catch-22). Unless it's them that supply the medical marijuana or research plants.

They do. It's called Marinol but they remove the component that gets you high. I was on it and it didn't work as good as pot.

That could change with a new President.

Just a rumor I heard ages ago, as if they may have had foreign assets that would provide their product.

Right now they are taking a beating on tobacco, so why not.....
