The Family That Walks On All Fours. Nova Special

I'm not sure this is the right place to put this but this was so interesting. It's a Nova Special and on right now on my local PBS channel. Very interesting.

The parents of these children were cousins. They are Kurdish. My question is how many generations of cousin married before the parents?

I don't know. You can look it up on "Nova's" website. Very interesting.

I was rivited and could not look away the first time that it was on.

The parents are FIRST cousins (!!!!!!!!!!!SAY 'NO'!! JUST SAY 'NO'!!!)

She had 17 children in about 15 years.

In the middle of it all, she had about five in three years.

( The bed room scene in my mind is GRRRRRROSSSSSSS!)

So, she was exhasted and the kids didn't get held enough for stimulation.

Three things stand out to me in the story.
1. the blonde researcher is an amazing woman who deserves all the funding she wants
2. the parents, in spite of being cousins are nice people and good parents - just stuck in the stupidity of their culture

3. the children are charming and driven to get better.

I won't spoil the show and type more but it is a staggeringly amazing bunch of infomation.

I just watched to see people using anatomy in states of challenge but ended up moved - very moved.
That blonde researcher is a great hero-ine

Yes she is. I agree she should get all the funding. What was so sad is the torment this family went through and will continue to go through. This is one instance where they should be brought to America for medical care. At least they will get the care I can't get as a born citizen. I wanted to throw stones back at those kids and spank them until they were red.

You and me = same same thought and place.

Just giving them old-lady walkers was brilliant!
...and the day-at-the-beach brought tears to my eyes.

When she went back and the girl was on the paralelle bars with the big smile.... gollly! I don't need any jewelry in this world.

I just need more of that kind of help to go around.

The son standing up was thrilling

Interview with film producer for FamilyThat Walks On All Fours

Hey guys, I saw the NOVA show a few weeks ago and was as fascinated as the rest of you. In fact, I was so interested in the family that I contacted the filmmaker and she has since posted a previously unpublished story about making the film - check it out, she rocks:
