Try some eucalyptus (sp) oil in the shower. Or you can just pour some in the shower while you sit in the bathroom and breath in the steam.

Hope you feel better soon.

this is best suggestion yet..It's just my opinion some of the natural processes of your immune system are best when not depressed too much.

while sometimes it is ultimately neccessary to manage severe symptoms..anything you can tolerate, you should.

the flu is a tough one...I have the shot for 4 years and have yet to get it. I get the shot to protect patients, not myself.

I do however, understand how some may chose not to get it.

hang in there!

Teri, might not help right now, but get some blueberry tea. It has the highest anti-oxidant content you can get, and just happens to taste good. 2 cups a day really helps, I work outside in Colorado, and in the 3 years I have been drinking the stuff, I haven't gotten sick once. It keeps your immune system working at peak levels and stops you from getting it in the first place. Hope all goes better for you soon.

I like to put a little honey in it, and a stick of cinnamon when it's cold like today. I can't take decongestants either.

Teri,

try some horse meat spaghetti. Aucanada swears by it.

Seriously, my daughter has the flu, too. I have been out of work with her since yesterday. (Luckily I get paid off time!) The doctor told her it's going around.

There are some pills you can take, but the doctor said they only help if you start them within the first day or two after symptoms begin. Short of that, suffering it out, drinking plenty of liquids, and resting is the best bet.

And, for you personally, I am sure this will help:

Ginger tea with honey or without sweetener your pref., chicken soup or broth, and hot baths or showers, plus plenty of rest. Oh and of course hot water with acv and honey.

Eucalyptus kept in vases in your home will also prevent pneumonia.

The reason you haven't become sick isn't your tea, it's because you work outside. It's people who are routinely in public indoor spaces who get sick most often. The worst place is the grocery store; the cart handles are rife with germs, cause people will shop for food whether well or sick. My local store has disinfectant wipes over by the cart area, and I wipe the handle down, then my hands before shopping. When I get to the car, I use hand sanitizer. It's not foolproof, but I do believe it helps.
