My worst sports injury - Page 2

A hockey skate in the face ... between my nose and upper lip ... five stitches, as I recall ... I have a moustache which covers the scar. Wasn't actually a sports injury as a friend and I were pleasure skating on the rink the Leafs used to use for practice and at 5 pm they signalled for everyone to get of the ice and my friend jumped over the boards ... I skated into his skate blade ... didn't hurt much ... I biked home (1-1/2 miles) with some gauze over the wound ... my parents drove me to the hospital for the stichery.

I got banged up being a catcher. The worst one being a kid was sliding into home, I had the plate blocked and my mitt on the ground waiting to make the tag. Well, the bastard slid into my hand, effectively shattering the palm area, broke 3 fingers, and a hairline fracture in my wrist. My hand swelled up so fast that the mitt had to be cut off. 10 wks in a cast along with 2 screws to hold everything in place. The worst was when the screws came out, and had to be in another cast for an additional 3 wks.

Yep I've had a few broken fingers, nothing like being one-handed all of a sudden.
I was on the other side of a home plate collision....I'm running home, catcher is covering, I slide and nail his knee with my rib cage. (couple of cracked ribs from that) ...

Back in the day I was tackling an opponent when my own teammate jumped on to help but missed and landed on the back of my calf which sent my toes to my shin bone. the ankle snapped in half pretty quick. I still had bruises on my shin from my toes 6 weeks later when the cast came off. Still hurts from time to time.

I also have broken all my fingers in sports or fights as well as my nose 4 times. (who says you should twist your head when making a tackle without a helmet?)

Is horseback riding a sport? Anyway, was riding one of our horses once and it started bucking like crazy, I received a broken wrist and pelvis from that. Worst injury I've ever had, but recovered nicely.

oh boy, horseback. A perfect place for personal injury for sure. Kinda like motorcycles...(rarely a MINOR injury).
