It seems that NY is going to give drivers licenses and registrations to vote to illegal immigrants.

This seems crazy.

Anyone here know what motivates this?

Actually, I would think the city where the Statue of Liberty resides would be quite open to immigrants, illegal, legal, purple, green, speaking English, Martian, or whatever. THIS IS AMERIA! We don't own freedom, we promote it, encourage it, give it away.

My guess is that they are thinking that at least by providing drivers liscenses they can keep track ? + I bet some truck driving companies might have an interest in the labor implications.

...I would argue that proir to becoming citizens, people should not be allowed to vote....

Difficult + complicated issue w/ vast implications.

Yes. It's obvious what's motivating this. Votes. Illegal ALIENS, if given the opportunity, will vote democrat. With two of the most prominent democrat senators in the nation, this can only mean votes for them; payback for allowing illegal ALIENS to stay and have a voice in our democratic process. Additionally, democrats historically have supported entitlement spending and programs, so that simply adds to it.

My God, Hillary is desperate to win the whitehouse. Allowing illegal ALIENS to vote...what kind of slap in the face is it to legal IMMIGRANTS, those who followed the law and waited years for citizenship? Awful, and I hope it friggin' backfires.

They still won't be able vote until they become citizens, Cookie. That's not going to change.

As for allowing them to have drivers licenses, I don't have a problem with it.

They don't even need a SSN for shits sake! So basically we are giving them a free pass that Americans can't even use, it's total bullshit. I am all for being fair but that is definitely a special privilage. Change it to where Americans don't have to show any credentials either and I'll buy it.

That's part of the problem. They can register to vote when they get their license. It's part of the package. It's one of the things the opponents put in their soundbites.
