looks like it turns out that meeting yesterday with the NY state insurance regulator was less about a bailout than it was about fitch downgrading a big bond broker.

so, that rally yesterday turned out to be based on wishful thinking.

so far, it's bouncy bouncy between positive and negative today as the dow can't find direction... the market reacted to news of an agreement being reached on a "stimulus plan" by going negative. early earnings reports were mostly positive, but the drop in unemployment was negligible and home sales plummeted yet again to throw a damper on early gains - meanwhile at&t's earnings, who hinted earlier last week that things weren't going to be pretty, are yet to come.
