It's not the same thing.Mitral valve prolapse - MayoClinic.com

Usually in a young person, sudden cardiac death is caused by a rapid increase in the heartbeat leading to a quivering where the heart cannot function. The person can be saved sometimes with a defibrillator machine if given in time..
Sudden Cardiac Death
When sudden death occurs in young adults, other heart abnormalities are more likely causes. Adrenaline released during intense physical or athletic activity often acts as a trigger for sudden death when these abnormalities are present. Under certain conditions, various heart medications and other drugs — as well as illegal drug abuse — can lead to abnormal heart rhythms that cause sudden death.

Rest in Peace man. He was one of the most laid back down to earth actors I've ever had the pleasure of working with. I did some work on Lords of Dogtown, and he was very accessible and treated the crew with respect while it was a shitty movie, I followed his career, and I'll never forget him as Ennis in Brokeback Mountain. He was a total mensch and I really wanted to work with him again. My heart is broken.
