there are lots of calmative herbs. google " calmatives"
chamomile tea (Sleeytime by Celestial Seanonings is good.
I like Tension Tamer also - but it does have a little B vitamins )

benzo's are more useful for anti-anxiety, if you don't get relief from the herbs.

Many years ago, after a couple of years with a bipolar GF, I was suffering from what is probably best described as traumatic stress disorder.

I started taking valerian, and st. Johns wort. I had to stop, as I was falling asleep in the middle of the day!

I'll never forget the first time I opened the valerian bottle. I was talking about it with a friend who worked in a health food store. He talked about the smell that eminated from the truck that brought the valerian root.
