I agree with you that this is a non issue. But if you are implying that Hillary dug this up , then you're wrong. This story has been in the Illinois press for years.

I well remember MintJulep's certainty that Giuliani's sordid sexuality would be a non-issue.

If this story has been in the Illinois press for years, then Obama has long had knowledge of donations from a dubious source. Why is he only now returning the funds?

That's for him to explain, but Tony Rezko was indicted in October 2006, and indictments usually only come after lengthy investigations. So it would be tough to assume that Obama, or someone within his organization didn't know about this.

And actually, Obama has been giving back these funds since June 2007 according to this article.

GIVING these funds, whether 'back' or 'to others,' implies an ongoing relationship with the funds/donor. Sooo, is it a Robin Hood thing, or more of a middle man thing?

There's no trick to playing charitable nice guy with other people's money.
