Doesn't matter which page or if there's a page. Republicans who have just zero reason to lie to me have already said, and I have already posted, that one swiftboating angle will be the suggestion that Obama is part...neh, a pinnacle...of long long longtime Plan for Islamic dominance of the West.

They will point to things like the debut of Muharram...first day of the Muslim new year, January 10th...on generic Office Depot desk calendars.

I'm trying to keep this straight...that I report what I have been told, in this particular case, does it make me an ordinary racist, a xenophobe, a Holy Roller or all three?

If this story has been in the Illinois press for years, then Obama has long had knowledge of donations from a dubious source. Why is he only now returning the funds?

Richterscale:
That's for him to explain, but Tony Rezko was indicted in October 2006, and indictments usually only come after lengthy investigations. So it would be tough to assume that Obama, or someone within his organization didn't know about this.

And actually, Obama has been giving back these funds since June 2007 according to this article.

cheapseats:
GIVING these funds, whether 'back' or 'to others,' implies an ongoing relationship with the funds/donor. Sooo, is it a Robin Hood thing, or more of a middle man thing?

There's no trick to playing charitable nice guy with other people's money.

Curator:
We need Theta's BULLSHIT stamp.

cheapseats:
For Obama?

Or for Obama supporters, who refuse to acknowledge that giving away funds from a sketchy donor at least as of June, and still vowing to unload them currently, constitutes an ongoing Situation?

Blind loyalty to a person is a bad thing, irrespective of the object of one's affection.

ThetaBurst, Chickenshit & Hysteric:
Hello.

The BULLSHIT stamp is reserved for those persons whom I don't have on ignore.

Thank you for contacing the BULLSHIT Center.

You know what kinda guy Thetaburst is? He's the kinda guy who would next say in "debate," 'What's CONTACING? Too stupid to even use a dictionary?'

I have been posting with reason and integrity-read-that-consistency for more than two years now. Not everyone digs me, I get that and respect that. Only a politician tries to please all the people all the time, which...speaking of smart ass hello...is necessarily accomplished by lying.

If we have learned NOTHING ELSE from the travesty that is the Bush Administration, I woulda thought that we have learned that it is COLOSSALLY STUPID AND IRRESPONSIBLE TO TAKE THINGS AT FACE VALUE AS DECLARED BY THE PERSON WHO STANDS TO GAIN, AND TO LOOK THE OTHER WAY WHILE A BUNCHA LITTLE STUFF ADDS UP TO WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE.

Thetaburst has always been a bit of an asshole with anyone who disagrees with him, particularly if they are less adroit than him with grammar, punctuation and composition. Intellectual arrogance paraded on a miniscule stage, incidentally. He's just turbocharged with Obama.

I draw the attention of those who do NOT have me on ignore to the same childish unreliability of reason in Thetaburst as demonstrated in 'you bring up racism/you're a racist' implying 'you bring up assassination/you're a murderer.'

Curator, I must say, I am surprised by you. The old 'too bad the Bill Maher posts disappeared' but, see, I pay attention to who's who in an online community. I recognize that I am not always going to agree with people whose opinions I mainly regard. I do not, on those occasions, blow them out of the water unprovoked.

Lemme ask you two this, how the hell do you mean to unite with the supporters of the other candidates when the dust settles? Your knee-jerk defense of Obama is counterproductive...assuming your goal is to wrest power away from dangerous neoconservative brutes, and not merely for "your team" to win.

As to so many other substances, ideas and things, Americans are addicted to winning.

Even I...not even I, as in, I am not as prone to mindless, meaningless competition as other Americans but even I, as in, I usually have a thousand bad words about attorneys for every good word...even I could feel it the morning after the Iowa Caucuses.

Finally, I had decided on a candidate with whom I could quasi-align, and he didn't win. Who wants to line up with a loser? Out, PROMPTLY, came the "Oh yeah? We'll see about that" fighting spirit. Dusted off, QUICKLY, the arsenal of cutting remarks and vibrant anti-whoever-ism.

We LOVE to win. We NEED to win. Without winning, we are...well, we are losers.

We're prepared to stay in fucking IRAQ...cultural mecca and vacation spot to all savvy travelers...for GENERATIONS, rather than retreat. Okay, we WON'T retreat. Recession, it is. We will recede, like an iceberg.

Merely speculating, in an armchair psychologist sort of way, I attribute grasping at primacy to our profound irrelevance in the Scheme of Things. What I most cherish about a view of the sea is it's perspective-restoring property...calms me right the hell down. You can't look at the vastness of the ocean and the relentlessness of those waves without realizing that you don't amount to a hill of beans in the Big Picture.

Who can live with that? Your puny but oh-so-difficult life basically means fuck-all.

The human psyche balks at the futility. Rather than slip into despair, we strive for distinction. More money, more power, more attractive mates, bigger cars, smaller cars, faster cars, more cars, more money, more power, finer clothes, smoother skin, whiter teeth, more money, more power, smarter kids, bigger houses, better doctors, better drugs, more money, more power, more travel, first-class travel, higher education, more initials, more money, more power.

One way or another...now, perversely, by hook or by crook is not only okay, it's lucrative...we yearn to be better and, rather than apply ourselves to that daunting lifelong task, we strive only to be "better" than others.

The flip side of this is a bedrock mean-spiritedness...we really don't want others to succeed. If you do better, I seem worse.

When we say 'break a leg,' we kinda mean it.

Theta's posts are the ones that should get the BULLSHIT stamp.

Hillary has Norman Hsu and Barry Hussein has Rezko. They probably both have many such shady donors who just haven't been caught yet.

See there's just a taste of what the Republican propaganda machine will spew.
They turned a verified war hero into a wimp running against an inept AWOL druggy.
What do facts have to do with anything? The media will bury those facts on page 20 and run a story about Obama's Muslim ties above the fold on the front page. In a week or so they'll publish a one sentence retraction also on page 20.
He better toughen that skin up. If Bill Clinton saying true things is mean he's going to be in hell.

Without speculating one bit further as to the NATURE of the relationship, if Obama's giving the dude's money away last June and he's still giving the dude's money away now, that constitutes ONGOING...as in, when whoever saw whatever need to distance Obama from Resko half a year ago, it did NOT translate into a severance of the relationship. Obviously, or he wouldn't STILL be deciding to give Rezko money away.

Let me add that, by 'without speculating one bit further as to the nature of the relationship,' I do NOT mean to imply that there is anything beyond the usual icky pseudo-whoredom of American politics.

I AM saying that, just because people are finally flying high on whichever personality du jour, we don't abandon scrutiny.

Been there, done that? Been there, DOING that.

Obama's statement in the Chicago Sun Times:

Quote:
"It was simply not good enough that I paid above the appraised value for the strip of land that he sold me. It was a mistake to have been engaged with him at all in this or any other personal business dealing that would allow him, or anyone else, to believe that he had done me a favor," the senator said.

"What we've done is we've traced any funds that we know of that we think were connected to him, and if there are other funds that were connected to him that we're not aware of, then we will certainly return them. It's in our interest to do so," Obama said.

Obama's campaign aides said the candidate has already returned $85,000 in Rezko-related campaign contributions, dating back to his U.S. Senate bid.
These statements answers any questions I have. Too bad they don't also answer your questions as well. Then again you probably don't want your questions answered, but would rather just throw mud for the sake of it.

Your acusations are hollow.

No, he should respond to their attacks the way he did with Hillary. Think of it as intellectual Tai-Chi Chu'an: the force of the aggress is turned back against them with the barest of contact.
