There used to be wall-to-wall, minute-by-minute coverage, now it's just a headline, and a few interviews on Larry King.

my x's band used to play dekalb, it was a great town, and one of my favorite gigs to go to because the kids were soooooooo cool there. it's hard to get your mind around.

all i can say is, if you're a news junkie, you have probably noticed that when the economy goes to hell, the violence ALWAYS skyrockets. the number of shootings (school and otherwise) just this new year alone, has been positively mindboggling...

I agree. 2008 has been not a very kind year so far.

I won't hold my breath that anyone in the press will actually point it out.

The economy hasn't gone south. I refuse to keep RE-explaining the same reasons over and over. Yes, there are some problems in the credit market and they will correct over time. My stocks are doing far better this month than last month which is a good sign. The stimulus package passed, interest rates are low. Don't you want there to be recovery? Economically speaking, every single thing you post is negative and one-sided, like you want their to be some kind of catastrophic depression? The trends are against a depression or even a long-term recession, so why even make a statement that is so utterly alarmist and untrue?

i was thinking about this earlier today, why people do this? the only thing i can figure is that some people are hurting so much inside they want to inflict as much pain as they think they feel on anyone else before they kill themselves...beyond that, i haven't a clue...this is the second time here, in roughly as many weeks, that someone has opened fire on a crowd...the last one was some guy that killed 5 women while they were shopping at a store...
