Food Rationing Confronts Breadbasket of the World

Title
Food Rationing Confronts Breadbasket of the World

Link
Food Rationing Confronts Breadbasket of the World | The New York Sun
-----------------------------------------------------
Excerpt

"Many parts of America, long considered the breadbasket of the world, are now confronting a once unthinkable phenomenon: food rationing.

Major retailers in New York, in areas of New England, and on the West Coast are limiting purchases of flour, rice, and cooking oil as demand outstrips supply. There are also anecdotal reports that some consumers are hoarding grain stocks."

Are we still just in a rough patch?

Thanks for posting this. Just at a time when world food supplies are dangerously low, our country has started cutting off more of the food supply by producing crops for bio-fuel purposes. It's frankly irresponsible and selfish as hell. We just can't let people around the world starve in order to address our own energy needs.

It's sickening. We should be growing hemp, switch grass etc. for that purpose (and others) and using corn for food. It makes me wonder if anyone making the decisions has a f*cking clue...

But then I remember who is profiting from these monumentally bad ideas, and it all makes sense again.

If only people didn't have lawns, which they waste resources mowing, they could use the spacetime for food-plants. In schools, they do not teach you how to farm your own food. They teach you how to get some ass-headed job in 'the system'. The Universe system is better than the human system.

If we made ourselves small enough, a single apple-tree could feed a single-person for an entire year. We could have all sorts of plant-food growing everywhere. More food than anyone would ever want to eat.

The Universe provides this free, easy food in unlimited quantities. You simply need to manage it properly.

Yes, I agree. The american biofuel fetish could be construed to be a crime against humanity. Somebody said that at the UN, and they are right.

How do you figure this? Everyone on here bitches about fuel and oil, but the moment we take steps in the right direction people bitch about that. World hunger didnt start the day biofuel was started, it has been an issue for a long time. Just because a few of you just now started paying attention to it doesnt mean it wasn't a problem.
