WASHINGTON — President George W. Bush is not openly criticizing former president Jimmy Carter for his meetings last week with representatives of the militant Palestinian group Hamas.

Bush says Hamas is undermining peace in the Middle East because its foreign policy objective is the destruction of Israel.

He said at a news conference Tuesday that Hamas complicates the situation in the region by firing rockets into Israel and trying to destabilize it

Bush says he does not see Hamas changing as it must if there is to be a two-state solution in the Middle East. Bush administration figures including Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice criticized Carter for meeting Hamas leaders in Syria.

Bush said he has not spoken with Carter since his return from the region.

Bullshit. He's sent Condi to do the criticizing for him.

And according to Jimmy Carter, it's the US who's standing in the way of Israel and Syria coming to a peace aggreement. Don't think for a minute this admin is invested in Israel and it's neighbors making peace. It's the last thing they want.

Maybe he didnt want to associate himself with Israel's disrespectful comments and actions towards a former US president.

Anyway, ill give him credit when its due. He didint defend Carter, but the least he could have done is not join in the foreign and domesic gangbang of Jimmy Carter.
