Do you really think there would have been enough "native" Hawaiians to make a difference in such a landslide (a 17-1 margin)? I'm pretty sure that by the time 1959 came around they were by far the minority on the island. Certainly Philipinos and Samoans and Whites outnumbered the natives by a large amount, as they do now.

Only native Hawaiians get to decide what happens to the land which was stolen from them. No one else.

If you say that because im a Mexican-American, ill say what I always tell my cousins south of the border, that the Southwest, at least today, is better off under US control than under Mexican control.

If you say that because im Pro-Palestine, ill say that I have no problem being righteous when dealing with foreign countries. Make the wrong right because it doesnt affect American interests in a negative way.

With the Hawaii issue though, I feel that it would be against American interests to 'do the right thing' and return the territory, so I will argue self interest over righteousness.

I agree they should have the right to do what they want but what becomes of all the non-natives on the islands??

There are hardly any pure bloods.. DO they rule as kings & queens over the half breeds & mongrels??? Deport all the howlies & uncles??

There has been way to much water under the bridge IMO for this to work... I am willing to listen to a plan>>???

As is usually the case this is hardly a cut & dry thing here........
