WASHINGTON DC (CNN) -- A new poll suggests that President Bush is the most unpopular president in American history.

A CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey released Thursday indicates that 71 percent of the American public disapprove of how Bush is handling his job as president.

"No president has ever had a higher disapproval rating in any CNN or Gallup Poll; in fact, this is the first time that any president's disapproval rating has cracked the 70 percent mark," said Keating Holland, CNN's polling director.

Is it just me who shudders that 29% still support him?

I hope McCain keeps sucking up to Bush, maybe his approval rating will be 29% by fall.

I saw yesterday that Obama and Hilary are both still ahead of McCain in the national polls (barely) and no one is even running against him yet...
considering all the negative back and forth in the DEM race, that's actually quite remarkable.

That would be the truly amazing part about this story.
Who the hell are these people? Would it be out of line to declare them incapable of making a rational decision and not allow them to vote anymore? I mean, the evidence is overwhelming.

I would've thought his approval rating had been lower than 29% before.

I thought the same thing at first.
Apparently the "approval" rating is not the opposite of the "disapproval" rating.

This is the first time more than 70% came out and actually said that they DISAPPROVE of him. The number that come out and actually say they APPROVE of him has been lower than 29%.

The story explains that:
Quote:
"Bush's approval rating, which stands at 28 percent in our new poll, remains better than the all-time lows set by Harry Truman and Richard Nixon [22 percent and 24 percent, respectively], but even those two presidents never got a disapproval rating in the 70s," Holland said. "The previous all-time record in CNN or Gallup polling was set by Truman, 67 percent disapproval in was set by Truman, 67 percent disapproval in January 1952."
In anycase, in the end, when everything is tallied, I'm sure he won't have any problems nailing it when it comes to the next Worse President EVERcontest.

That's what that 28% that still approve of him are wishing. And they probably blame Clinton and the Democrats for his not having one.

The magic wand line, is what he had to say, and repeat, and repeat the other day about oil prices...

'If I had a magic wand...'

It's the only possible solution he has for the price of oil.

Not being particularly knowledgeable about the industry, and all.

I saw that, damn pitiful for the supposed 'Leader of the Free World'.

Oil is complicated, and it's not as if he's had any experience in the oil business.

NOW his solution to oil problems is "If I only had a Magic Wand "
Five years ago his solution was "If I only had the most powerful military force on the planet." ...but that didn't turn out the way he planed. Those damn brown people never play fair, I don't know why we even bother invading and occupying their countries for them.
