Not at all. They don't have the moral fortitude to fight where civilians won't get hurt. In fact their whole strategy as been about throwing away the lives of their fellow Iraqis. I'm not asking anything of them at all other than to die as the pests they are.

Some were, this is true. But for those who attacked pro-Tory civilians [and those who attacked pro-Revolution civilians] they were just using the sitution to settle scores. You'd be amazed how like Iraq the colonies were- other than the centuries old tribal thing.

The time for that excuse has long past. The Iraqis have to put their own foot down when it comes to insurgents, militias, death squads, ethnic cleansing and general criminal killings. They've puttered around for five years, and even threw away the security time provided by the surge. That, and only that is why the surge failed in its aims. Everyone who understood even an inkling of what goes on in Iraq knew the surge wouldn't encourage Iraqis to step up in a meaningful way.

Where am I "givng a pass" anywhere in my post? That sort of debate sidebar is why the right wing had such an easy time chewing up the arguments against the war up until 2005.
