Heinz Pulls Mayo Commercial
Title
HEINZ PULLS MAYO COMMERCIAL Link Heinz Gay Mayo Ad Shown in Great Britain :: Celebrity gossip juicy celebrity rumors celebrity scandals Hollywood gossip blog from Hollywood Grind ----------------------------------------------------- Excerpt "sweet cheeks" ------------------------------------------------------ Comment: I can't believe people made a fuss about this! I'm as straight as it gets, and I thought this was funny. I "got it" and understood that there really wasn't anything gay about it. It's just playing on the assumption that a New York butcher is the "straightest" type of guy most folks would run into. What do you all think? Was it meant to be gay? Should Heinz have pulled it? |

As usual on overreaction by an ultra-sensitive right to a commercial insinuating that by using their mayo a British housewife will have the authentic deli experience of a nyc deli owner. Of course the admakers were pandering for shock value but I thought it was done with a good sense of humor.

Definitely not about homosexuality in the slightest. It's about persona; that of a mother who's tough when it comes to getting the family up and at'em for the day.

I'm learning that people in general don't have a sense of humor any more. More and more folks are opting for the "Stick Up The Ass" philosophy of modern living. I am forcing myself to reign it in at my art shows, I used to like to joke with prospective customers, what I've experienced is that 80% of them either don't 'get it', are not amused, or even take offense at something I thought was obviously a joke.

Artisans of any ilk usually have rather open minds...as seen by your work. It's part of what we term "creativity". We tend to automatically view everyday occurrances from multiple angles...like composing a photograph. As a result, (at least in my case) we come up with abstract thoughts...often little plays on words...that amuse the crap out of ourselves. Sometimes, it loses something when we translate these thoughts into words. It is however, very rewarding when we find someone that "gets it".

I don't see how any of this has got to do with mayo though. They probably knew it was going to create controversy hence the tactic...more publicity. |
