The middle is not the problem. Balance is in the middle. Since WHEN are progressives alright with making Religiosos front stage and CENTER?

A race to the middle is one thing if it entails bowing before Reason and Moderation. It is quite another if it entails abandonment of core principles. Setting aside Obama's particular concessions, do you agree that a race to the middle is not to be accomplished by abandonment of principle?


That is because Americans are, by and large, cowardly. They will withstand any length or brutality of aggression against people of another land but, here at home, they're afraid of the bogey man. Me, too. There are LOTS of Bad Guys runnin' around...with money and weapons and LOTS to lose.

If McCain proposes a reactionary judge and Congress appears poised to do its usual gutless wonder thing, have the people no recourse at all? It is amazing how often I hear of execution-style killings of officials in other countries, whereas we have only a handful of assassinations amongst our historical credits. Usually, we like to be Top Banana at everything.

Mind, for the record, I am not encouraging violence, I am merely wondering at how little there is of it, particularly when the Government is impervious to and tortuous of the People.

As well, when the United States means business and not imperialism, it imposes economic sanctions.

The People could impose economic sanctions, but apparently won't. We are not nearly so keen on doing what is required to effect change as we are on announcing how keen we are on effecting change.

Actually the Puritans found the Massoquoit Indians already dead. From smallpox, most likely. They thought god had delivered them to a holy place just for them, complete with abodes and stored food. The Puritans emigrated first to the Netherlands, but you know those Dutch and their wooly headed free thinking ways drove them over the edge. They also did slaughter a huge number of Indians in the Connecticut River valley and the celebration that followed is the real origin of Thanksgiving today. Not the most pleasant thought while you're drowning the hard as rock Bells stuffing in gravy just to make it palatable.

Let me clarify my position about this issue. I see no problem wioth the government funding a religious charity program that is already up and running. Successful programs that could be more so with an influx of money. Borderline ones that could work with more cash. I am not saying that NEW organizations should be created. and they have to adhere to fed guidelines, no discrimination of services, etc.
