Biofuels have caused world food prices to increase by 75 percent, according to the findings of an unpublished World Bank report published in The Guardian newspaper on Friday.

I'd have to say this isn't quite true. First off, food stocks have been impacted because the need for biofuels has targeting foodstock crops unneccessarilly, yet that can be alleviated with more crop plantings (farmers didn't and can't plan ahead for this) as well as better biofuel crops being used (switchgrass).
This is something to keep in mind for the increased future use/need for biofuel. At this time, I doubt the 75% figure as there isn't any real biofuel usage globally.
I would venture that food prices in the U.S. is impacted more from higher fuel delivery and farming equiptment costs. Feedstock crops impact food stock prices more than anything else here.

Transporatation and operational cost have more to do with higher food cost than biofuels.
