This is one the scant few votes Biden's missed. But He likely suspected that seeing his own party's leadership(s) fold... AGAIN meant it wouldn't mean much had he been there.

Hillary's opponents won't need this to use against her. They'll just use the votes she did cast to point out how she's wrong for this country.

Republicans are gonna have a hay day with this you know.
I think the republicans COULD have had a huge field day.

I haven't seen the vote totals.

If I were a republican senator, I'd have tried to arrange enough republican votes against confirmation so that the four candidates' votes would have made the difference.

Then they would really look bad.

Sadly, most people probably don't care about this confirmation; YET.

If there votes didn't matter, what's the point of showing up other than image.

Seven democrats voted to confirm.

At the risk of sounding redundant, is it really fair to "assume" how these four would have voted?

Maybe this is their way of showing their disgust.

How do you think the democrats who opposed this man who wouldn't admit waterboarding is torture, and claimed the president is not bound by our laws when fellow democrats vote to confirm him.

This confirmation makes me physically ill. I am angry at those 7 democrats.

And I don't understand their votes.

It amuses me to think what you'd have said if Hillary showed up. It's true, that by not voting is often used to expressed disgust [sometimes synthesized disgust, and republicans did back in 1994 when they walked out of a vote with umbrellas labeled "shame"]. But something tells me you're only holding this view to defend a worthless candidate.

True. I still think Biden should've been there, no exceptions.

Living in Utah [land of the 20th century] I know my vote is useless because I'm drowned out by complete fucking retards and extremists. But I do it anyway to protest the system of mediocrity and Idiocracy.

Yes , it is fair to assume candidates running for President who don't VOTE, silently said YES!! We need strong leadership, not bullshit politiking!! I do not abide fence riders. When you don't vote you leave everything up to assumption. There is zero excuse. If they were protesting by using their nonvote they would have let everyone know ( Especially Hillary)

Hillary voted AGAINST Gonzales, Roberts, and Alito. Given that track record, she'd have likely voted against this guy.

Personally, I suspect if I were a candidate, I'd have been there and voted "no" Even if it wouldn't have changed the outcome, it would have been on record later.

I believe they all may have erred here, but maybe the public won't care or even notice.

In our normal area of disagreement, would you not agree with me that if this no show is held up AGAINST only one of them and not the others that it would be somewhat dishonest?

JD,
Coulda, shoulda, woulda. Hillary along with all other dems should have been there to vote. This was not some minor issue that could be shrugged off as "difficult to fit into my campaign schedule." This was a deliberate act not to go on the record. They all have the financial ability to fly to DC for the vote and then get back out shaking hands and kissing babies. Shame on them all. This is truly representative of what this country has come to...politics before principle. It cannot be explained away. If the Dems allow the Republicans to win this election it will be over issues like this, that can be used to show the "weakness of character" that the Repubs used in the past. How is it possible that the Dems have not learned yet?
