Mary was not allowed to appear with the family at the 2004
convention?)

The McCain ads are making me incoherent -- but in my mind there
is a big connection with no one in this "Christian" country giving a
flying fuck that probably close to (if not over) a million innocent
Iraqis have died because of us, several million more exiled, a million or so more gravely injured -- and that our tax money has gone
and will go to perpetuate this obscene war. Karma, blowback --
we will be punished for being greedy consumers who watch reality television, and write off anyone who can speak in complete, complex
sentences (with clauses, even) as elite and unelectable.

Presidential elections are no more important than Superbowls. All that
matters is that we all vote to make sure the wealthy continue to control all the wealth. And no one has to worry much that we might
vote for the wrong guy -- the Republicans own Diebold. If the
government's own GAO discovers down the road that there were
many irregularities with the Ohio vote, everyone knows it will be too
late to make a big deal out of it.
The quote I was referring to was from Robert M. Hutchins and I went back and bolded it.

I can't help but go back and look at the timeline of American history and when I do I realize all the influential people that have been assassinated and murdered over the years.

And for what exactly?

What did Martin Luther King Jr. do to deserve being murdered? Oh yeah, he wanted everyone to be free. He wanted all men and women to be treated equal no matter what color their fucking skin was. Yeah he should be killed for sure.

How about JFK? "Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country." I mean this guy was the president, what the fuck is he trying to do by getting the people to act? Kill him as soon as possible.

And wait does he have any relatives that might follow in his footsteps? Robert? yeah better kill him to.

And who is this rock star telling people to give peace and chance? Power to the people? Kill that bastard quick.

And with no one there to unite, inspire, remind the people of their responsibilities, give them hope, and help them to create a more perfect union, what happened?

Add to that the corporate greed that has ruined art forms like music and even movies in order to mass produce it and make millions, along with the ever dropping standards of education and what do we get?

A bunch of mindless zombie peasants who actually think THIS is what the founding fathers fought for. Our troops die in wars so we can watch "reality" on TV rather then be a part of it. They die so we can eat fast food, get fat and lazy and buy shit we don't need while others starve to death. Why keep moving along the path of evolution when we are so fucking comfortable where we're at?

I never have enough time at any given point to say what I want to at work but I think you get my point. We need some hardcore truth slapped in our faces. We need to get people thinking again. We need to drop this, "our pride is more important to us then the lives of real people." crap. To stop acting like "Americans" (what ever that means anymore) and start acting like fucking human beings.
