Exxon has biggest quarterly profit in U. S. History
HOUSTON — Exxon Mobil Corp. reported second-quarter earnings of $11.68 billion Thursday, the biggest quarterly profit ever by any U.S. corporation, but the results were well short of Wall Street expectations and its shares fell.
The world's largest publicly traded oil company said net income for the April-June period came to $2.22 a share, up from $10.26 billion, or $1.83 a share, a year ago. -------------------------------- Link to entire article: Oil Profits Shatter Records I hope those of you who voted for Bush 43 even once are proud of the oligarchy you helped create.

Exxon posts record profits....(AGAIN).
Autonomous regional branches of AlQaeda continue to emerge around the world. The top 1% are richer than ever, while the middle class is being foreclosed. ...And defense contractors are still raking in mountains of government money in a never-ending occupation in Iraq. You know, other than the Iraqis not signing off half their shit to Bush's buddies, it sure looks like Mission Accomplished - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You know what I find "funny" about all this? A few of my friends bought into all of Bushes bullshit not once but twice. And back in 2000 when I talked about how Republicans only care about the rich, starting wars and fucking the middle class I was laughed at by them. There are only two kinds of people who vote Republican, rich people and morons. But hey it's not it's not like what I told my friends back in 2000 was right.........all this shit is just a coincidence. ![]()

The Supreme Court of the US decided in a majority opinion a few months back that $2.5 billion, which works out to about two or three weeks worth of profits for Exxon/Mobile was to high a price for them to pay in the lawsuit filed on behalf of the residents of Alaska whose lives and environment were destroyed by the Valdiz disaster of almost twenty years ago. This my friends is the helping hand of compassionate conservatism, otherwise known as the middle finger.

I guess I just didnt realize exactly what that meant. I didnt realize the scope of their intent. I didnt realize they would set up a corporate public relations/ advertising department. (fox) I didn't realize they were looking to use their new corporate/government reigns to enforce the hostile takeover of their top campaign contributors' world market competition. I didnt realize that American taxpayers would provide never-ending funding to what amounts to a corporate agenda. I didnt realize, that much like a corporation, our leaders would accept little or no personal responsibility or accountability for the decisions made by "the corporation". I had no idea that the corporate operations manual would over-ride Madison, Jefferson, and Adams. ..We've been hornswaggled, Vike.

We failed in our responsibilities. The truth is we got what we deserved.

Vicariously, I am not sure which is the quote and which is your words,
but "we" did get and are getting what "we" deserve. It is just so unfair to those of us who did not vote for and enable these greedy, thieving murderers. How much money does Dick Cheney need to leave to his children and grandchildren? Don't they know how to invest it? (Is Mary's little kid in the Cheney's will, even though Mary was not allowed to appear with the family at the 2004 convention?) The McCain ads are making me incoherent -- but in my mind there is a big connection with no one in this "Christian" country giving a flying fuck that probably close to (if not over) a million innocent Iraqis have died because of us, several million more exiled, a million or so more gravely injured -- and that our tax money has gone and will go to perpetuate this obscene war. Karma, blowback -- we will be punished for being greedy consumers who watch reality television, and write off anyone who can speak in complete, complex sentences (with clauses, even) as elite and unelectable. Presidential elections are no more important than Superbowls. All that matters is that we all vote to make sure the wealthy continue to control all the wealth. And no one has to worry much that we might vote for the wrong guy -- the Republicans own Diebold. If the government's own GAO discovers down the road that there were many irregularities with the Ohio vote, everyone knows it will be too late to make a big deal out of it.
