It is politics as usual, so it appears, but "us"
in the outside didn't know it, and I'm sure the people
doing it weren't wanting it to be known.

It leaves a bitter taste in the mouth no matter who does it
and right now, voters and citizens have had their fill
of disappointment. So it's one more thing to be pissed
off about, and it matters in the big scheme of things.

Well here's more, claiming to go back to 1999:

I can't read it all right now, but I will later.

This sounds more like screening questions that planting them. Assuming all the candidates have their own plans, it's hard to imagine anyone being well versed on all of them, so rephrasing that question, but keeping it on the same topic, doesn't seem so awful, does it?
