Spectacular!! Looks professionally done! What aperture/shutter speed did you use?

Had to go check...

1/60 second, f7, but this pic. is tricky...

ISO was 320, and as I'm preaching to you, I shot fairly slowly, to use a fairly small aperture. Hoping to get a nice clear shot.

After playing w/the cropping, I used "soft focus" to soften the edges. I must have seen a pic like it on a poster somewhere in my travels. So this seems to have less depth of field, but not from the camera settings.

How did you get it to 320? Mine just goes 200, 400, 800, 1600 and H1.

I think the "blur" around the edges is what makes the pic...it wouldn't be the same if the it were perfectly clear. It looks kinda magical or dream-like

So you used Photoshop to create that effect or these are settings on your camera? If your camera, how did you use soft focus? What kind of camera do you have? I think you said you had a Nikon D40 too, no?

D80...

It is odd, I get 100,125,160,200,250,320...and then it gets similar to yours...although I get 1250

Yea...I was using Picasa, and I had never tried the soft focus feature. It definitely makes the pic.. The scene itself is perfect, and spring brought plenty of water running. The moss is cool, and the soft edges does make it dreamlike.

When I lost all my pics, I figured I'd just go shoot it again. Unfortunately, the water is just trickling now. It would be a great shoot now, because the spring green leaves would be nice. I guess I have to wait for a long rain.

My favorite...a dog I can take ice fishing. I had two husky mixes...I miss both of them.

Drat. I thought I responded to this post, but it's not here. (Sign #214 of getting old, lol) Very nice shot! I'm glad you were able to retrieve it.

Luckily, I emailed a few shots from this shoot to someone, so I was able to get it from my sent folder.

Others from that day

Same shot...two different crops...I like the one from my original post best.

This old boxer barked at me the entire time I was shooting. He lives across the street.

I had a couple of them too, over the years
