What's really weird about this huge dragonfly is you can see right through him! He flew off right after I took the pic.

I saw your photos on the garden thread..absolutely fantastic! I'll bet any creature would thrive there. Is it fenced in or do your animals stay on the property? I know you have two dogs missing..I'm so sorry

No, it's not fenced. (I wish! Fencing 55 acres of heavily wooded=$$) We've owned this property 25 years, and I've always wanted it fenced, sigh.

We were allowing the older dogs to run free because we have no neighbors for 10 miles, and hardly no one (literally) ever comes down this road. The one exception is a Dr. that owns a couple hundred acres a couple miles down the dirt road as a hunting camp. He's only there a few weekends a year. During hunting season the older dogs aren't allowed to run free. No way.

The pups are kept in a 100'x50' fenced run that has a 10'x10' doghouse. Hubby knocked himself out on that project, and I wish you could see it! He fenced around using mostly big trees as the fence posts, and we didn't use chain link. Short version: you can't really "see" the dog run, and they can run thru what looks like cleared woods. The run has trees in it, and a kiddie pool. It's hard to describe.

And of course old Bailey stays in my bedroom. I have to walk with him outside because he's gotten senile. He wandered off once, and I freaked. The phone rang, and I ran inside to answer it. I came back and he'd taken an extended stroll. There are packs of both coyotes and CoyDogs here, and I am really afraid for my animals...they are aggressive! I thought I was gonna move here and finally allow my cats outside...wrong.

The nice thing about no fence is the deer & turkey come and go. They loves the pears, lol.

Your animals are wonderful, except for that dang snake.

What do the cats think about that thing? Is he loose in the house, or is the other one? When I was looking at him, I kept thinking...shoes and a handbag....

LMAO! Gracious no. Both of my snakes have their own heated cages. (Picture solid white plastic except for the sliding glass door front with keyed locks.) I sold his female for $1500. It's not a pet you want to go missing. He's a hybrid of Indonesian rainforest ancestry...a tree snake. *G* He's really sweet, honest. Both my snakes are docile and can be handled, but I promise to cover the cages should you ever visit! The other snake is a rescue my squad found in the street. He was injured, and the danged vet lost him for 6 months in that clinic. I believe in proper caging.

The cats sit and watch them like it's TV. It's amusing.

My goodness, you are brave. I'd have a heart attack before I would touch a snake -- I go nuts if I see even a little bitty one in the grass. I've been afraid of them my whole life. If one was "lost" in my house, I'd move. My husband said he'd burn the damn thing down.

We no likey snakes.

Luna moths are one of the most unusual and beautiful of the North American moths known as Saturnidae. They are well known for their green-yellow colors and long tails, and although they are often seen in pictures, they are a real surprise when found in nature. Although they are common throughout the eastern U.S., their night flying habits and short life span as an adult moth, only about 1 week, combine to make them a rare find.

I guess I'm blessed. I believe it is around July, that these babies are everywhere! They are very fragile, and their stay is indeed a short one.

Back when I played a lot of softball, they would swarm the lights at the field, when it was their peak season.

They always reminded me of little kites.

You are lucky! I have never seen a luna moth. I've seen those huge hummingbird moths but never a luna.

Cookie doesn't like snakes which is very normal for most women. I have garden snakes at my house and their bite can't even break the skin. I just adore these little creatures

Lol Hey Cookie now listen, to get over your fear you need to just hold one, a harmless one for just a few minutes. I'm kidding! I'm sure your response to my suggestion would be the same as mine if I were asked to hold a spider in my hand
