They are. They scare me a little also. When my dad lived outside Spokane they would come buzzing so close to you and quick. Yet it was cool to watch them also.

Here's a state by state migration list of types of hummers.
Hummingbird Migration look deeez; Nebraska -- Ruby-throats arrive in May (breeding only in the Eastern part of the state) and leave in September. |

I think I'll put my feeders out the first wk. in April. You should put a handful out, and I'm sure they'll learn about your house. After that, it seems that they remember where the best parties are, every year.

Another great Hummer attractor is color. The more bright red, yellow, or pink flowers the better. They'll zoom in to check them out and go straight to the feeders.
I buy hibiscus at Walmart, Lowes or Sams for just that purpose. |

Some hang strips of red fabric. I buy only red petunias for my baskets, and I've got a red teeshirt I wear in the yard, when I'm trying to "train" them.

They're Back!!!!!!
Walking out to the shop today, I heard that unmistakeable sound...chitter chitter chitter. At once, I knew my hummers finally arrived!!! I've had feeders out for weeks, but nothing. Well, now they're here, and as miserable as ever! They're darn near tame after all these years, ignoring me as I changed the old water in their feeders. Of course, they're fighting over the only feeder that isn't in the sun. So, these pics aren't the best, and you can see that my garage is in need of a paint job...but...embarassed as I am, I'm posting these pics anyway. They will get better, as the days go on...I promise A rarity...two on a feeder...they are taunting each other. I wish some of my other pics were clearer. They move so fast, and this shady corner is the worst background, but I had some of these buggers really going at it. ![]() ![]() ![]() Embarrased by the background, I put up a white backdrop...these two, and eventually three, were buzzing around my head as I was trying to hang the white backdrop.... More pics later...these give an idea of what's going on in my yard today... Rejoice...the little bastards are back!!!

I was wondering where they were too. Today is the first day they were in town, and boy did they explode onto the scene! Fearless, and very aggressive, they let me get within 10 feet of them. At times, they were buzzing around me, in their quest to establish territory from the getgo. I accidently deleted a whole bunch of pix of them on a branch in the sun, but I'll get more this week.
