When I export from picasa, my images are always smaller. I thought I had my settings set at the largest possible, but they always end up in my pictures much smaller. Maybe I should check again....

Go to Picture > Properties and look at the size to ensure it's actually shrinkage and not the current view you're in. Usually the pic is to large to display so it zooms to 22% of the screen. |

Nope...importing is fine...even in raw. I'm importing first into my Nikon transfer, then I edit w/picasa. When I export to my pictures, so I can get them to photobucket, they show up much smaller....6.3mb in picasa, and 1.43mb when exported. Even worse if I try to email them to myself.

However, if you do need to export them, when you go to File > Export Picture to Folder, there's an option that says "Use original size" make sure that's selected (it's not the default). |

I didn't even think about Picasa. Can you insert photos from picasa to here. I saw people using Photobucket.
I used auto settings. I did not edit the pictures at all. I have an interest in photography so I was just playing around. When I get more serious about as I do at times I will work on other camera. This one is mostly used for my work.

It's hard for me to explain layers properly, but I found this video review of paint.net (another freeware image program) that shows examples.

When I right click on an image in picasa, if I'm not mistaken the save option is to copy to a disk. I thought I had to export it to be able to get it into photobucket. I did check my settings, and changed it back to "use original size"... I have been fiddling around, and open them in Ifranview...then I seem to be able to save them w/out as much compression. I'm not sure I get the edits that were done, though... edit...I can't seem to browse my picasa pics from photobucket...can you?

I'm going to look into this info when I get a moment...It seems this is for full blown photoshopping, when all I really use is the crop feature, and some sharpening once in a while... Lighting needs to be altered on occasion too, but that's about it.
