What kind of camera do you have

What kind of camera & lens do you have? When did you buy it? What do you normal photograph and how often do you do it? Have you framed or sold any of your pictures?

I have Nikon D40 with a 18-55 f/4.5 & 55-200mm f/4.5 lens that I purchased in Oct 2007. I don't photograph as much as I want to. My preference is portrait, landscape and travel photography. I would like to frame a few pictures that I've taken from Morocco but I don't think they are good quality enough to do so.

Here's a link to some of my pics from different parts of the world: http://www.flickr.com/photos/9321809@N06/sets/

Please share your story too!

I knew I didn't know enough about cameras to shell out the big bucks for a digital SLR, and also I have a history of not getting film developed, so when I finally got a digital camera I decided to go with the Olympus SP-510 UZ.

Archived Products &gt SP-510 UZ

I am learning and experimenting with manual settings like an SLR and unlike most digital SLRs, I can use the monitor to frame pictures. A very hand feature is that it can also do movies. I'm VERY happy with this camera.

So to me, it's the best of all worlds; idiot button settings, manual control, movies, affordable.

Olympus has upgraded the model a few times and they are currently at SP-570 UZ.

I use a Nikon D50 with a Quantaray 28-200 lens for digital that I bought about a year and a half ago? I'm not as into photography as I used to be, so I use it for whatever grabs my attention.

I used to do a lot of B&W work using my Nikon Nikkormat FT2 SLR circa 197-6? with a Micro Nikkor-P Auto 1:3 f=55mm with infinity, a Nikkor-H auto 1:3.5 f=28mm, and my favorite baby, a Vivitar Series1 70-210mm 1:3.5 with macro focusing. This was the camera I used for most of my Grand Canyon shots. I have a room that has yet to be unpacked from our move, and that's where all the boxes of my photos from the past are. Hopefully I'll get to them soon, lol.

Our family had a professional photographer (sister's hubby worked at Cypress Gardens as head photographer), so I was always hesitant to even try to shine. (If you're not familiar with the Gardens...in the past it was *the* place for a great deal of commercial ad work for the likes of Kodak, Pepsi, and the like.) Sadly, a huge corporation bought it and drove it into the ground.

I've never sold anything. I have a few framed for my personal pleasure:

Just pics from around the house.

Absolutely gorgeous pics! So clear, crisp and rich! Love them!

Another question I wanted to ask you all is - do you carry your camera with you everywhere? If yes, which lens do you carry. I'm starting to think that might be a good idea for me.

Thanks. Some of those are pretty cruddy, but thanks.

No, but I intend on carrying the digital with me from now on. I don't like leaving equipment in a hot car, but I've missed so many wildlife pics by not having it with me! (No matter which direction I go I see deer, turkey, coyote or bobcat).

This is another reason why I like the camera I picked. I don't have to worry about breaking a lens or something when I go places, like when I got on my bicycle to take pictures of that fire that I posted elsewhere.

And I want to thank all of you here for inspiring me to use my camera more. It's because of you guys that I'm actually having fun with it instead of having it sit on a shelf somewhere.

Those fire pics were great! You should add them to this thread. Hey, we need an action thread! *G*

Beautiful pics....the mushroom reminds me of an Allman Bros. album cover.

I've had 2 camera systems stolen out of my vehicles over the years, so I hesitate to bring mine everywhere. It is a good habit to get into, because the great sunsets, rainbows, wildlife shots always seem to occur when you don't have your camera w/you....

I just make sure I cover my stuff up when I'm parked...

And yes....this issue makes for a good argument for point and shoot cameras....easy to take along...

Another from the Woodstock weekend....

Great pic! I'd frame that one.

Yeah, back in Tampa Bay I was hesitant to carry valuables in my vehicle because break ins were the norm there. Here in BFE Ga crime is rare, so all I do is carry a Galls catelog and lay it atop anything I want to hide, lmao. (Galls is a law enforcement equipment co., and their catelogs usually have SWAT pics on the cover and such). It gives thieves pause for thought on who they're thinking about ripping off, lol. Tacky, I know.
