Talk to Chao...this camera body brand new is the same price. She just bought one. Although...it might be without the battery, or other accessories.

I bought a used D70 before my D80. I was thrilled to get a 70 for a good price, but it was used, and had sensor issues. I swore I would never buy a used body again.

Another issue w/used bodies, is that you don't know how many shots were taken. They rate the shutters at app. 100,000 shots. W/digital, that adds up quickly, as there is no limit to the shots you take at any given shoot.

I would pm Chaogirl and talk to her about her new D200.

Thanks Malka!

Actually, I don't think I'll be getting a used one because I get $875 from work to buy something "techie" and it won't apply to used stuff. Last year, I bought the D40 with this money so I'm going to try and sell it for $700 (including bunch of accessories and warranty) - I paid more for it than that. That $700 and this year's $875 gives me $1575 to buy my new camera (has to be D80, can't afford the D200). Fortunately, I can carry the money over to next year's

Or I'll keep the D40 and just buy the lens as that's my priority.

I'm not sure if I want to buy the extended warranty this time though - it cost $220 for an extra 3 years on both lens and body but Nikon's warranty comes w/ 2 years on the body and 5 years on the lens.

That's a good price but I'm getting the 18-200mm VR lens too. My employer has an account with one of the stores so we get a discount - it comes to $1425 before taxes. I don't think I can get lower than that. Thanks though!
