If you put Moody Blues in a rotation including the above artists anyone listening would think you insane.

Moody is pop, along the likes of The Monkeys, Turtles, Mommas and Poppas, Dave Clark 5, Beach Boys, etc...

I've been biting my tongue but I just can't keep it any longer.. CCR rocks? As in ROCKS?

Through most of my 20's I made my (meagar) living as a musician in bar bands and had to play a lot of CCR as you might imagine, they were the only songs I really detested, mostly because they did not "rock" in the least.

Not as in headband necessarily but in comparison to Moody; then yes. I do agree on this point however.

so if it ain't ROCK as defined by Sean -i t's pop?

You are SERIOUSLY comparing the Moodies to the Monkeys, and Turtles.
HA HA

Those "bands" were a joke. You can characterize the Moodies music as you wish, but they have real talent, writing and musical ability.
Definately not " hey hey we're the monkeys" bull crap.

There is more to rock than headbanging.
I think you are confusing lead guitar, and drums with quality.

How about WINGS ? I saw the Wings Over America tour way back when. they rocked. but they weren't all 4/4 beat songs.

I think you are missing out on some great music ' cause it doesn't fit your narrow definiton of "ROCK" there is all kinna R&R

The Monkees had talent too. Even if they were mashed together by a tv studio. Ever seen the movie Head? That movie was trippier than hell and the music was pretty alright.

I was wondering why my signature avatar turned into a link.

I haven't missed out on anything since I was forced to listen to and play it while learning piano and guitar. I didn't make a direct comparison to the two bands I merely lumped them into that genre of pop music of the time. It was/is pop, not my fault nor my classification. Now if you want to get into the history... The Moody dudes couldn't cut it playing true rock, rhythm and blues so they built an entire gig around a damn flute. Yes a flute, this being the binding instrument of the Moody Blues collective musical experiment (which continues to this day as previously stated); however a flute ain't Rock-N-Roll brother.
