I know that Gort was programmed with free will the same way I know there is a God: The results. The beef. Gort made decisions and was programmed to make decisions. Independent decision making is a sign of free will.

By your definition all animals and even the simplest of computer programs have free will btw.

Not true. computers do not make independent decisions. Our computers do not have A.I. yet. Animals were not designed by God to make abstract moral decisions concerning good and evil.

That wasn't your definition. Since you changed your definition I'll have to assume you agree with me.

Oh, and I have to go ahead and let you know that you're wrong on the AI issue. AI has existed from the dawn of the computer age and has, of late, gotten VERY intelligent. There are even programs that exhibit some form of "pre" free will.

Now again, how do you know God didn't make animals thus? Where's your evidence? Or is this just another matter of "faith" or "personal revelation"?

Congratulations! You've just submitted that clever enough scientists have the powers of God! I knew that if I hammered you long enough enough about your avatar being a power tool, your ego would lead you proclaim that mortals can do for machines what you claim only your god can do. And you, little robot, walked right into it. You couldn't help it. The ego setting on your program was too high for you to resist!

In attempting to defend a fictional robot as having free will (which is even sillier, given that Gort was bound by the script every bit as much as by its programming), you have turned your back on God and given his power to mere mortals. You have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that your ego means more than your God. Indeed, that your ego IS your God!

So when I press the "w" key and a video game avatar walsk forward, the avatar is maming a decision based upon free will? Gort was a robot. No decision making. Pre-programmed responses to given stimuli. At the very best, a menu of possible responses based upon parameters of the nature of the stimulus.
