The trouble is that we've known him for years, and it doesn't let up.

You know why? It's really fascinating.

Judaism used to be polytheistic! It actually seem to have evolved from the religion of the canaanites, who were of course also in the area at the time and in greater number. It seems that originally, Yahweh was the son of El, along with several brothers and sisters including Ba'al. Ba'al would become the major point of worship for the caananites, and like the Egyptian mythos, would begin taking on aspects of his father god. Yahweh the same and also would take on many aspects of Ba'al.

It's simply a fact of history that Yahweh worshipers won the battle between the two. If the Canaanites had won instead of the Hebrews...Ba'alism might be a primary world religion instead of Judaism, and Christianity wouldn't even have existed, although something greatly resembling it in every important way would probably have anyway...but the main deity in that religion would be Mithras, not Jesus.

So you are agreeing that Yahweh and Jesus rule. And I agree.

Seems somehow ya'll have reminded me of this little parable.

Tis the epitome of the male ego:

Once upon a time Ms. Elephant was walking happily through the jungle when she got a thorn stuck in her foot. She limped painfully along.

Little Mr. Ant noticed her predicament. "What's wrong Ms. Elephant?" he squeaked.

Ms. Elephant whimpered painfully, "I've a thorn in my foot and I can't remove it."

Mr. Ant jumped up and down, "Oh, I can remove it for you Ms. Elephant. I can! But, in return you've got to let me do one thing!"

"Anything." Ms. Elephant said.

Mr. Ant said, "You've got to let me climb up and poke you one!"

Ms. Elephant paused. She gave the little Mr. Ant a short look up, a short look down. "Ah heck," she said, "Why not?"

So, Mr Ant removed the the thorn. Then he ran behind Ms. Elephant and scurried up her huge hind leg and began giving her the ol' one two, in and out.

A monkey in a tree caught sight of the two and began laughing hysterically. Then he started throwing coconuts. They kept hitting poor Ms. Elephant in the head. "Oh!" she cried out. "Ooooo" She yelled.

And little Mr. Ant was having a grand ol' time. And hearing Ms. Elephant's response he yelped and yahooed, "Yeah.....take it all bitch...take it all!"
