Failure to Appreciate Reality or God...

Which is the cause of humanity's troubles: Is it because we fail to appreciate God, or that we fail to appreciate reality?

Both. For a failure to appreciate God IS a failure to appreciate reality. One is left in such a circumstance to only appreciate oneself and the values of man only.

Reality. If people stopped and actually thought about how short our time really is on this earth, and if they realize we all need to get along if we want to survive, this mudball would be a lot better off.

The reality of our situation is this; horrible shit is happening everywhere. Horrible shit that could easily be stopped if we all take a long look at our neighbors and ourselves and see that we are all part of the human race. We are humans falling into inhumanity. God might help some people better themselves, but until we all learn to be better humans for humanity's sake, things will continue to go downhill.

Well mankind cannot control itself. We told God we could and look at the mess we are making. And now we have nuclear weapons pointed at each other. And you know we are going to use them one day. And God will be proven completely right: That we cannot manage ourselves without him. Then there will never be this question again.

If we cannot learn to control ourselves, then we will go extinct.

I don't follow the logic of your statement that God will be proven right when we nuke ourselves....

It will be the final admission that we would destroy the human race and planet earth if left to our own devices. And it would prove Satan wrong. We rebelled against God on Satan's advice. And God has allowed us to see if we can do without him.

It would be quite a shame for us to annihilate ourselves since there is no God. It would prove nothing, it would be devoid of meaning. It would be sad.

No, the only logical and decent thing for us to do is learn how to just get along, and survive this period of relative ignorance. Humanity can come into it's own, and perhaps someday we can associate ourselves with intelligence in the universe.

We fail to appreciate God. If we simply adhered to God's rules everything would be okay in reality.

You hit on a very important issue here.....but with so many religions and so many off shoots of Christianity, there are far too many differing rules of God. I think using common sense as well as the "Golden Rule" seems to be the best answer.
