Since you bring that up. I have to admit, that a person breaking into my home in the middle of the night would have a damn good chance of getting shot too.

I wouldn't shoot someone running down my driveway with something he stole, but kicking in my door while I'm asleep or chillin is a little different.

Sad thing is, when a home invasion occurs, the invaders have the drop on you so unless you have a gun stuck in the couch cushions 24/7 you're in trouble.
