It's just ludicrous that somebody meditated and prayed and a secret was revealed in detail. You know what god looks like. You know where he lives. You know who works for him and their duties.
All from a book written by people who thought the world was flat and the center of the universe.
And you're arrogant about it. You just know. Although you haven't seen any of these creatures due to their invisibility. Carl Sagan wrote the best article about bull shit detection I ever read.

Therefore, I seek to either get the religious people
to go to school UNTIL they get straight "A"s in Math and Science

AND explain every single layer of the Grand Canyon

or answer ALL my questions and convince me
that I should join them in their thoughts.

Considering the abysmal record of religious people,
I find my efforts to be very necessary.
This is exactly why I come here. To educate people on the difference between blaming an idea for problems as opposed to holding those that cause the problems responsible.
Indicting the entirety of believers because there are bad "believers" is untenable and quite shortsighted.
To argue that religion makes people do bad things is such a gross overstatement. Most of the nonsense that has come from zealots, do so because of a predisposition to such things. This is why we have good and bad everything. Should we ban politics? Should we ban kids sports..or sports altogether.
Blaming religion for the actions of men is like blaming a rock for an autocrash.

Personally I don't care what anyone believes and anyone who endeavors to change other's minds simply to make them fall into step has bigger issues than religion.

Pay attention.

If one loves a religion...fine.
If one tries to make another love their religion...wrong!

Exactly. Perfectly said.

After Heretic brings up the point of rabid theist/atheists, you guys still manage to turn this into a shit fest. You can't discuss one thing without trying to indict other's simply by their beliefs. It's funny how you all want freedom but you're so quick to act authoritatively towards others.
I claim that very few of you here actually prize your freedom and the freedom of others as much as you should.

Well said Gurn. I often get accused of trying to 'convert' someone, when I hope you will agree that here and on the old BM board I have never pushed the demand that "you should convert to Christianity," although I am very aggressive about describing my beliefs in Christianity (as you are about your Deism) and very critical about what I consider to be false or no religion.

Yet everyone here is pretty dug in so the debates DO get spirited. And there is nothing wrong with that.

You need rephrase your sentence to "most muslims I know are rather moderate and passive". You don't know all or even most muslims so therefore you cannot pass off your opinion as fact.

Furthermore, since "most muslims" live in the ME, where they are anything BUT moderate and passive, that statement is simply vaporous.

The religion of "peace" is based on a holy book that commands its readers to kill the infidel and that if you don't you burn forever as a coward.
