The question is phrased wrong. As if there are only two beliefs. Christian or Atheist. I'm quite willing to recognize any god. Existence and balance suggest a superior force that keeps the universe in check.
But you (whatever your religion) don't have any idea what it is or how it works. Your fear of death and being immaterial cause you to make up myths to explain what you fear. It's just ludicrous that somebody meditated and prayed and a secret was revealed in detail. You know what god looks like. You know where he lives. You know who works for him and their duties.
All from a book written by people who thought the world was flat and the center of the universe.
And you're arrogant about it. You just know. Although you haven't seen any of these creatures due to their invisibility. Carl Sagan wrote the best article about bull shit detection I ever read.
