That's just it, I'm not on the same page with anybody. I guess I'm a solitary soul.

Well you ARE Gaia, the only entity of its type in all of the universe. Nay, in all of existence. Yes. A solitary soul.

Prayer to God IS religion. Who knows what you were trying to say here? And prayer is much more than moving air. God hears prayers. His answers:

1) Yes

2) No

3) Not right now

If one assumes that God has a plan, praying to God is the very apex of hubris. Asking God to change what is no doubt a perfect plan to benefit little ol' you?

Well since you have never prayed and your prayers answered, you are a poor witness. Your speculation can be easily ignored by those with a personal relationship with God. Your lack of prayer is a prayer to Satan.

That reminds me of a Jim Morrison Song, in which he shouts:

"You Cannot Petition The Lord With Prayer!!!"

I don't remember the Songtitle, or the Album, "Waiting for the Sun", maybe.

Prayer may have some effect, but likely not the desired. There are certain scientific principles we have yet to understand. I personally am particularly interested in the science behind 'vibes' (as a hippy might say). Understanding these 'vibes' might explain the true effect of prayer.

A lone wolf, who enjoys the company of the pack in small doses, but is mostly content with keeping her own counsel.

I am not a poor witness, and the question LeisureChrist poses is not only legitimate, it speaks to the very heart of Faith.

If God is All Loving, All Wise, All Merciful, All Benevolent, with more to be revealed as to how it's all goin' according to Divine Plan, pleas and petitions for any kind of change or healing DO imply that the Faith-not-quite-full has a better idea, if God will please please alter His plans.

Yet God is free to alter his plan at any time for he IS the eternal sovereign. So you can pray for a touchdown and he might grant it. He might not. You can ask for strength as Sampson did after he sinned and lost his strength. And God granted it.

Leisure X's postulation is one of the nonbeliever simply nitpicking for a weakness in faith, belief and proof.
