Japanese cars = Intelligent Design? I think you're comparing apples and orangutans. Last I heard most Japanese cars were designed in Italy (and my Toyota was assembled in the southern USA) ... ID in this case would stand for Industrial Design. The Japanese have very effective assembly lines and can make changes on the fly but I fail what this has to do with, say, the design of the duck-billed platypus.
