Explain to me again how god got a peasant pregnant, and the baby grew up to be crucified 2008 years ago and that somehow paid for my sins which I didn't commit until recently.
Religion is designed for people who believe in ghosts and think the world is flat. And have been brainwashed by mom and dad.
No Santa, no Easter Bunny.

Well I'll be damned. You got us pegged DJack! Those round earth bastards are so wrong and are going to hell. I'm glad you decided to point out that anyone who practices a religion thinks the world is flat. I sure know that's the case.

When are you going to stop assuming and generalizing? Every time you do so you look like an idiot. Using your "power of critical thinking" you were able to decide that ALL religious people are brainwashed, but you got away. Too bad your critical thinking doesn't come into play before you make asinine comments like this one.

I'm sure you can see how those beliefs are like believing in a flat earth. Leave out the "like" and it becomes a metaphor. I can see how the metaphor irritates, but it is true on some levels. A big exception being that flat earthers numbers are greatly diminished, while the religious continue to grow. Of course the non-religious are growing too, just not at as fast of a rate.

The big question for me is how can people hold "moderate" religious beliefs (which often appear extremely wacky to the outsider) without legitimizing extremest beliefs? (which are really no more wacky, but far more dangerous)

I'll say it again: when it comes to Chritianity it is my opinion that the words of Jesus should be the focal point. Jesus said, "Love thy neighbor as thyself." "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." "Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth." "Whatever you do unto the least, you do unto me." "When an enemy slaps you, turn and offer your other cheek." "It is easier for a camel to pass thru the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter Heaven."

Redemption, in my mind, means dick if you don't practice the teachings of the redeemer. The extremists amongst us, be it the KKK or the Pat Robertson followers, omit the words of Jesus and stick to the God who is all about fire and brimstone. They look to ostracize when Jesus looked to unite. They look to earthly rewards and not Heavenly rewards. They judge at will, when Jesus said not to. They are wrong. I am stating this as a fact because I wholeheartedly believe/think they are absolutely wrong. I will stake my eternal afterlife that these are the types of people Jesus was preaching against.

This is much more intelligent to me than focusing on virgin birth, resurrection, and the so called fulfillment of prophecy IMO. I accept these ideas attributed to Jesus as good. They are advice which will improve our world here and now. I will submit that these are beliefs which are not equivalent to "flat earth" beliefs.

I just don't understand why so many focus on the hocus pocus instead of the many reasonable things which are said in the bible. It seems to me we need to realize that all the magical stuff is an artifact of the way people thought and perceived the world thousands of years ago, and it's not to be taken as literal today. At the same time, there is lots of good advice for us there too, should we be willing and able to separate the wheat from the chaff!

It was fear, man. Plain and simple. Once Constantine used the sign of the cross to conquer, it went downhill quick. He used a sign built upon redemption and forgiveness to WAGE WAR! He amassed great wealth and success in doing so, and people followed suit. All the while the words that hold the most meaning, in my opinion, get pushed aside. People see that they can make a lot of money and a lot of fame/infamy by perverting the original message that it never ends.

Actually gorillas eat their own shit too. It has something to do with the food they eat and after it goes through their system it produces Vitamin B12 in their shit. So, they eat it. If you look in my Gorilla thread you will see Zuri with poop lipstick!

Yeah after I told you you're all like "I knew the earth was round. I did too." That reminds me of Pee Wee's Big Adventure. Pee Wee is riding his bike and showing off for a bunch of kids watching. He hits a pothole and flies through the air about 20 feet and lands in front of them. "I meant to do that."

If the Christians cannot police the worst among them,
then they may as well be quiet
