Concerning Santa Claus, I told them the Story of Saint Nikolas, who was a kind Man, he gave people presents in the dead of winter, to cheer them up because it is so dark and cold. And that people did that every winter, to honor his memory. I also told them about Winter Solstice, and that the days begin to get longer again, and people were really happy about that, so they celebrate the return of the Sun. Also with presents.

The Tooth Fairy was kinda fun, made losing their first teeth a bit more bearable for them. Knowing my kids tho', I suspect they knew it was me, putting the money under the pillow, they just played along. Little capitalists, as they were/are.

As far as God goes, I thought they should examine that, and make up their own minds, when they were all grown up, and their ability to reason, would be fully developed.

Those who rally so vehemently to protect the unborn, are conspicuously apathetic when it comes to the very real problem of unwanted, unloved, neglected children that, oh by the way, have already been born, and know that they are here.

What about the survival of these kids after the womb? I dont mind someone preaching to me about unborn lives, as long as they have adopted several orphans, given condoms to the teens at the high school, and donated their time at the local childrens shelter. Otherwise, they should have a long, introspective look in the mirror, and kindly STFU.

..and this is coming from an adoptee. So believe me, I'm no particular fan of aborting pregnancies. (I'll take this opportunity to thank my birthmom, whoever she may be).

There really is no reason to lie to kids, as they say: "the truth is out there", all you gotta do is look!

Plus it breaks a very important bond, and you can never get that trust back, once it's gone.
