There's a feeling of cleanness when not consuming animal flesh, but then again some people cannot obtain enough protein from their veg sources.

I hate to admit it here, but I began eating chicken after my heart diagnosis and my doctor who is from India approved. My heart has since built up quite a bit. I don't tolerate wheat gluten very well either. But

I've discovered Mung beans which have 19 grams protein per one cup seving. So, with my doctors approval, I may give up the chicken. I always feel so icky when I eat it anyway.

As for spiritual, I don't feel that as much as the clean feeling when I don't eat flesh. It's also about kindness to animals and treating them with consideration. The Native American Indians thanked the animals they hunted for giving up their lives for them.

Thank you for sharing that Mom. I know, coming from you, it has nothing to do with any "superiority" but a feeling inside, that of the soul.

Another consideration is when we eat animals from slaughterhouses, we are eating an animal that has been very fearful of it's impending death, so the poor thing is adrenalin charged.

It hurts my heart(my spirit) to know an animal goes through that, so I refuse to eat any red meat. I don't eat chicken either from factory farms..and soon will be giving them up too.

Is there a 'clean' feeling after eating pastry?

i'm guessing that animals don't care if you thank them.

I think that they'd rather that you were kosher.

A pineapple plant takes two years to make ONE pineapple
and then it dies.
Do you thank it?

And, I shall report of my experiences becoming veggie. There is a great Hawaiian Diet I tried in the past that will help me in this endeavor. But, may I ask - when you say 4 yogurts, what size serving? I must keep my protein up and knowing that will help me.

...or carrots..RIPPED from their homes.

It has been measured that plants recoil in a fear-like response
