Spiritual Diet?

So I've read in several places now that certain foods can hamper ones' spiritual connections. Specifically, red meat being very bad, followed by other meats. Thoughts? Evidence?

This coming on the heels of reading how humans do not take their slumber in a proper pattern for the human body. That is, we should not sleep longer than 5-6 hours in one slump and take a 1-2 hour nap in the middle/later part of the day. Ever since I came across that gem, I'm lucky if I sleep 6 hours straight. (didn't even try changing me either, I just told myself "good idea!"...I must be more careful)

It's- somehow, predicated on the misguided belief that predatory animals are "evil" or to that effect. I simply reject it out of hand as being totally elitist. One thing I take my hat off to Judiasm is the ancient realization that it's wrong to make animals suffer when slaughtering them for food. Thus comes the practice of cosher butchering.

Weird, because on weeknights I generally sleep only six hours and nap for about half an hour after eating lunch.

That and a little shapeshifting on the side....

Interesting. Considering we don't eat predatory animals. Nonetheless, I'm thinking of going veggie...but I'll miss my Italian Wedding soup terribly.

Wonder what Mom has to say about this. I think she's mad at me though.

So...you pull all-nighters on the weekend? Or you actually manage to sleep in?

See, I was never convinced of the supposed moral superiority of vegetarianism. Then again I best relate to wolves, so maybe that say something altogether else entirely.

The reason for not eating predator animals is interestingly similar to why it's a bad idea for modern societies to process meat the way they do. It's about how many potential disease carriers you come into contact with. Ten thousand years ago [or yesterday, depending on where you live] people came into physical contact with at most ten to twenty large animals a month and maybe a few hundreds smaller game. But with domestication that increaseed sharply into the hundreds to thousands, and so the chances of a mutated pathogen crossing over to infect us rose with the odds.

Now when someone bites into a burger they're eating anywhere from fifty to five thousand cows in one sitting.

Ohh, make no mistake about it, I catch up the difference.

It isn't about moral "superiority" for me but more of "spiritual experiment." I suspect there are chemical makeups of the human body that are, well, biologically more suited to tuning into "other" channels.

I would say that the body can only distract from the spirit, and that's mostly if a physical sensation, be it good or ill, takes ones focus away from spiritual matters or input.

Pure nonsense. Food is fuel for the body. Humans are omnivores. It's all the same.

I think you're missing the point. The fact her description is primarily for those who have spiritual beliefs aside, what she's saying is there should be a sense of gratitude to nature for having provided that food, plant or animal.
