Those hacker guys are planning something for this sunday. I'm eager to see what they have planned.

Truly!

I never understood, why he's so famous. He can't act, and I don't think he's all THAT good looking either! He comes across as peculiar and creepy. Like that time he lit into Mat Lauer on the "Today" Show, about Psychiatry and anti depressant medication, etc, that was just weird!

Scientology is another 'filtered mirror'. Like the holocaust is to war.

It is a reflection of religion, with all the bullshit filtered out. By removing all the extra stuff, Scientology is able to spread out more, making the ways of religions too obvious to mischaracterize.

That's almost enough reason to overlook the evil crazy culty aspects of Scientology. Like the majority of organized religions, scientology is paranoid, intent on governing the minds and wallets of their followers. For some reason they're just a little more blatant about the whole thing.

Yeah...but...I mean...I probably will come across as a bit simplistic, but is this "Religion" not based on the ramblings of a Science Fiction Writer? The Keyword being "Fiction"?

I think everyone should embrace the Idea of scientology as being just as real as christianity.

Xenu knows how well they have fared where mind control and money making schemes are concerned.

as long as you are as skeptical of all religions where Fiction or possible fantastic claims are concerned.

I dont think its important to question what constitutes scientology to be a religion, as it is to question what constitutes any religion of being worthwhile.

Nah, they'll just do what the mormons did which is move to where U.S. law can't be enforced. That's what the mormon "pioneers" were doing, runnin' from the law. They incited a riot that led to Joseph Smith's death, were busted by the Secret Service in Oklahoma for countrtfeiting, and ran out into what was at the time Mexico thinking the U.S. wouldn't extend there. American Indians out here weren't too thrilled about their new neighbors either.

I read Dianetics in the early 90s. Sad thing is the first half of the book is IMHO mostly brilliant. The second half, once he's got you really agreeing with him, he goes really out there. To me it was mostly BS misogynist rants from someone with mommy issues unto the point he places first consciousness with the sperm.
That it became a religion just shows you what kinda 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' culture we live in. Like a drug, Cruise has now gotten so involved in this 'religion' that it's hindered his functionality.
As to his acting ability, if you look at the entire body of his work I don't know how you could say he's anything but a very good actor. He seems to be having trouble making the transition to middle aged actor, and I blame it on his increasing mental issues manifested in his being the poster boy of scientology. Most great actors are mentally tormented in some way or another.
