The whole Sabbath thing is confusing... Jesus says it doesn't matter anymore, but he quotes an old Testament passage that is about David and Co eating holy bread... Well, they did eat holy bread, and it was legal only for male virgins to do so. So David said they haven't fucked any women in three days, and the priest was like "Yeah, you are legit then dude". I don't recall any lines in the Bible where eating bread was a capital offense. Working on Sabbath is. So comparing the two is like comparing serial killers to shoplifters.
Considering that Jesus messed up priests name, my senses are tingling... I think he just used that story to avoid getting stoned (not in a good way). |
